It appears we’re past the chill of winter and a dry summer is being predicted as we move to a drier El Niño weather pattern http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/updates/articles/a008-el-nino-and-australia.shtml
I’m sure we all remember the disastrous start to last year’s fire season and the earlier than expected Hills’ fires.
As always when travelling in regional areas in summer we need to be constantly vigilant of prevailing CFS fire bans. http://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/site/fire_bans_and_ratings.jsp
We welcome new member Colin Hallett-Fairs, please make him feel ‘at home’ as he tries the various activities offered by the Club.
The Club has been quite active with ongoing training at Peake with special thanks to Andrew Box for his demonstration on removing and replacing a tyre from a rim. Trips to Bendleby (hosted by Jenny and John Wickham) and Yankalilla to Cape Jarvis (organised by Steve Pearson) were also highlights.
I’m looking to expand the number of Mitsi Mates who assist with visitors at the social evenings. A comment made by many of our new members is on our warm welcome and openness and I’d like to spread the load. Please email me if you can assist.
We will conduct a January 2016 meeting which will be a ‘Chatfest’ without an invited speaker- we’ll introduce topics to encourage experienced members to share their knowledge with the rest of us.
Ps. “Some beautiful paths can’t be discovered without getting lost.”
