Welcome to the first CatChat for 2017.
Lyn and I have just returned from the Club trip to the Victorian Alps, which tested our powers of concentration and car handling as we tackled fast flowing creek crossings and steep broken tracks. Many thanks to Lance and Jill Boagey for 20 years of leadership with these Alps trips.
We welcome new members Gregory and Lynette NORTH (955) and wish them well as they engage in the various Club activities.
The Club will conduct a Social meeting on the 24th January 2017 with a Chatfest in place of a guest speaker. Our 28th February Social meeting will have a guest speaker from the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Volunteers are still required for the Caravan & Camping Show for half day shifts either AM or PM over the period Wed 15th to Sun 19th FEB 2017. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can assist and if you have any queries please contact him on 0409 765 144.
If you have an interest in organising and promoting Environmental activities within the Club please contact Alan Pettigrew on 0417 262 000.
Our Mechanical Interest Group is looking for assistance. Please contact Kevin Jolly 0419 419 255 if you could spare some time to help with ideas and organising speakers.
Every two years HEMA release a new version in their Navigator series and the new model the HEMA HX-1 has just appeared replacing the HN7. Previously upgraded models have offered improved electronics and larger screens. The HX-1 has a totally new platform and is a locked Android tablet and with a brighter screen; faster processing and a longer battery life than the HN7. The HX-1 doesn’t use Oziexplorer mapping software www.oziexplorer.com/ requiring all maps to be sourced from the ‘HEMA Cloud’, similar to Apple and iTunes. For those who like to source or create their own maps, this is a major change. Here is a review you may find useful- https://www.mapworld.com.au/blogs/news/hx-1-vs-hn7-comparison-review
I’m looking forward to meeting as many members as is possible in an event filled 2017.
