President’s Report – February 2015

Can you believe it is nearly the end of February already? By the time you read this column, the club will have participated in the Caravan and Camping Show, flying the flag as the only 4WD Club present.    We are hopeful that this event is a good way of attracting new members to our club.   The Pajero is a very popular vehicle for towing caravans which is evidenced by the amount of them you see pulled up in caravan parks around the country and driving the highways.

Having our 4WD club present at the Caravan show would appear complimentary with owners of Mitsubishi vehicles and Caravan and Camper Trailers perhaps having an interest in doing some 4WDing while they are out there.   If our presence at the show is successful, there may be a chance that there are a few visitors to our social meeting which is just days after the show finishes up.    If you are present at the social meeting and see a new face, please make them feel welcome.   1st impressions count, and while there are many volunteers prepared to man our stand at the show, we need to make those that come along to visit our club welcome on the night.

You will read elsewhere in the magazine that yearly subs are due at the end of this month.    If you haven’t already, please renew your membership before the due date to save our Membership officer a job of chasing down overdue payments.

Finally, some of you may have heard of the passing of Heather Bryant last month.   Long term club members will remember John and Heathers smiling faces at meetings or on trips you may have shared with them.   Our thoughts are with John (member 017) and his family during this sad time.

Late mail: Please note the new trip in the trip pages this month calling for volunteers for BlazeAid. It is a worthy cause, close to home calling for assistance with rebuilding fencing damaged in the January fires.   This activity is scheduled for the Adelaide Cup LWE, so it’s possible to participate in the event and still have a rest day on the Monday.    It is a great event for the club to be associated with.
